Outback Antics, behind the scenes!

Outback Antics was created by Jim Moll. Jim is aged 35, and grew up on a sheep property near Derrinallum, Western Victoria. He completed Agricultural Science at the University of Melbourne in 1989. He is an Agricultural Scientist/Economist by trade, and paints and draws as a hobby. Jim gets his inspiration from his up-bringing on the land, and his regular outback travelling.

Outback Antics began in about 1992, as an annual range of Christmas cards Jim sketched up each year, to give to friends. As their popularity grew, the photocopier was no longer able to handle the volume, and the cards have been professionally printed for the last few years and sold both locally and interstate.

Jim and his wife Lencia have recently moved from Mt Isa to Benalla, and enjoy spending their spare time doing things like, camping, biking, dirt-biking, canoeing, socialising, 4wdriving, and other outback adventures! Jim is currently working on a research project with the Wool Industry and Land & Water Australia. Lencia has worked as an outback nurse in rural and remote communities and also with the RFDS, and is now an educator.

Jim enjoys sketching & painting fast moving subjects such as dirt bikes, rally cars, planes, race meetings etc using watercolours to convey the action. Rural subjects like mustering and farm life depicting sheep, cows & chooks also keep him interested.
